Suddenly Dizzy

Oh honored one, have mercy on the daily mess I make of my life. I, slipping in and out of reality, moving between now and then. Soon I’ll make amends for the past, I’ll live for the future.

Oh honored one, watch as I awake each new day, watch as the sky colors itself from grey to bright, looming blue. The day sliding away and I with its warmth. The day moving on and my concentration eclipsed. For now, my prayers eclipsed. Non-existent.

From his chair at his desk he rises and walks to the window. Outside his small one is running around a tree over and over again, she circles the trunk, seemingly for an eternity. Suddenly dizzy, she falls to the ground laughing.

Looking up and seeing her father looking down from above she smiles more broadly. A knowing smile for one so young. He, in turn, smiles back down at her and winks before walking back to his desk to continue his work. But once sitting he too is caught suddenly dizzy.

He sits and stares and tries to come to grips with the picture of his child in his mind. His eyes tear up full of a love he’ll never comprehend. So much joy in his heart it nearly hurts, so much good.

From outside, his daughter’s laughter brings him back to the day. Seeing her smile once more in his minds eye, he takes up his pen to write.
