Liars
I was born the son of a lying mother and father.
They were lied to by their parents, who were lied
to by their parents burdened with a tradition as old as time.
On my first birthday I was lied to
and on my
second and
third and
forth, and so on.
On each day I have been alive on this earth
I have been lied to. In school, at home, at work
even the tv is full of lies being told by lying liars.
Lies in the books I was told to read,
in the sermons I listened to in order to be saved.
Lied to at every turn.
Lied to at every opportunity.
Misled, deceived, beguiled and trapped
underneath all the lies handed down to me before I could
catch my breath or have a chance to think
or know what to do with them all.
