The smallest speck
Near the Paleolithic after
Equus Caballus had migrated
to Central Asia through Spain
a grey mare grazed with her foal
on the grassy steppes having
gone through darwinian
adaptation of its changing
environment over millions
of years
when across a
rare meadow that grey
mare caught the first glimpse
of a crouching homo-sapien
near a tree
stone tipped spear in hand
while the burning net of flames
rose in the distance trailing
thin spires of smoke
an ashen chorus of the
sorrowful inevitability of
one species colliding with
another
the smallest speck of
time existed in that moment
before the terrible call of
man’s screeching voice
started the first hunt that
would evolve into
40,000 years of
forced domestication
and the persistent and
horrible will of humankind
of course the mare
and her foal
never stood a chance
